The Los Angeles Dodgers look to end their series with the Miami Marlins with a win Wednesday.
Miami was headed for the top of the National League East as they were piling up the wins but going on the road ended their drive as winning away from home has been nearly impossible. This team has proven they have a long way to go after another road loss to the Dodgers by a 7-1 count. Jacob Turner was charged with five runs on eight hits over 5.1 frames which was the death blow for an offense that managed only five hits and a trio of bases on balls and never posed a threat. Anthony DeSclafani makes his major league debut in place of the injured Jose Fernandez. DeSclafani has been a strikeout specialist in AA with 38 K's in 43 innings at Jacksonville.

Even though the Dodgers have yet to go on a winning streak of any significance they are still well within striking distance of first place San Francisco in the National League West. Playing Miami hasn't hurt as Los Angeles shoots for the sweep of the visiting Marlins after Tuesday's win. Josh Beckett continued to pitch well in the early going with an unearned run allowed on just four hits and a trio of free passes in 6.1 innings. The bats didn't waste that effort with a 12 hit attack that featured two RBI's from Hanley Ramirez while six pllayers drove in runs and seven scored. Left hander Paul Maholm gets the call to the mound in Wednesday's finale' against Miami. Maholm faced the Marlins ten days ago and gave up three runs on nine hits in six innings of a 9-7 victory.
My problem here is I have no clue what the Marlins rookie hurler is going to do and that combined with Maholm as a huge fave is downright disturbing. I guess I'll hope Miami on the road is the key to victory...
