The Houston Astros and the Chicago White Sox face off on Friday at Minute Maid park for game one of their series.
The Houston Astros have the worst record in baseball but even so there appears to be a ray of hope as the team has been competitive even in their losses. The Astros are 8-14 at home this season, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they have win their last two. As a team the Astros are hitting .229 with Jose Altuve hitting .298, Dexter Fowler hitting .257, and Matt Dominguez is hitting .255. The Astros pitching staff has an ERA of 4.74 with the starters at 5.13 and the bullpen at 4.09. For game one against the White Sox the Astros start Collin McHugh who pitched well but had a no decision in his last start. For the season McHugh has allowed 20 hits and eight earned runs while striking out 27 over 25.2 innings for a 2-1 record and a 2.81 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Chicago White Sox are under .500 but with their ability to score runs thay are one of the more fun teams to watch this season as they never seem to be totally out of any game. The white Sox are 9-12 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are seven games back in the AL Central. As a team the White Sox are hitting .260 with Alexei Ramirez hitting .319, Dayan Viciedo hitting .295, and Jose Abreu is hitting .271. The White Sox pitching staff has an ERA of 4.74 with the starters at 5.13 and the bullpen at 4.09. For game one in Houston the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has three losses and three no decisions in his last three starts. For the season Quintana has allowed 47 hits and 20 earend runs while striking out 40 over 49 innings for a 1-3 record and a 3.67 ERA.
Houston is 17-36 in game one of a series, 16-45 in their last 61 hoe games, and 14-42 in their last 56 games. Chicago is 24-55 in their last 79 road games, 1-4 in their last five games, and 1-4 in Quintana’s last five starts.
Quintana hasn’t been sharp this season but McHugh should get tagged here as well and I like the White Sox to get the better of it.
