The Chicago Cubs and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Saturday at Wrigley Field for game two of their series.
The Chicago Cubs tried to rally from behind on Friday but they came up short losing to the Brewers. Junior Lake and Darwin Barney each hit home runs and Starlin Castro had two hits the Cubs scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Jeff Samardzjia allowed six hits and four runs while striking out six over 5.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-4 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Cubs start Edwin Jackson who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Jackson has allowed 49 hits and 24 earned runs while striking out 38 over 47.1 innings for a 2-3 record and a 4.56 ERA.

The Milwaukee brewers continue to lead the NL East and they helped their cause on Friday afternoon knocking of the Cubs. Jean Segura had three hits, Elian Herrera had two hits, and Lyle Overbay add a hit as the Brewers scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Lohse allowed seven hits and three runs while striking out two over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 5-1 for the season and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 17th save. For Saturday’s game the Brewers start Matt Garza who has won two of his last three decisions. For the season Garza has allowed 50 hits and 26 earned runs while striking out 39 over 47 innings for a 2-3 record and a 4.98 ERA.
Chicago is 16-38 in their last 54 home games, 1-5 following a loss, and 5-16 in Jackson’s last 21 starts. Milwaukee is 6-1 in their last seven games, 20-7 in their last 27 road games, and 4-1 in Garza’s last five starts. Milwaukee is 7-2 in their last nine games in Milwaukee.
