I am wondering why the Dodgers haven't began the season hot like they ended 2014 and have no answer because honestly the vast talent on the roster sometimes looks ordinary which describes Saturday's 18-7 rout at Arizona. Clayton Kershaw was hammered for seven runs in 1.2 innings and the pen was tagged for eleven more...ouch. The bats pounded out 13 hits with Yasiel Puig and Carl Crawford going deep and driving in five. A resurgent Dan Haren looks to continue his solid start to the season when he takes the bump at Arizona. On the year Haren has gone 5-1 in eight starts with 2.84 ERA over 50.2 innings.

After trashing Clayton Kershaw and crew you have to wonder how the Diamondbacks aren't in better shape. It's not often a rookie hurler gives up five runs against Kershaw and their team wins by eleven so I say with confidence that Arizona got away with one. Chase Anderson still got the win to improve to 2-0 but it was the offense that stole the show. The Snakes raked LAD pitching for 21 hits including 13 for extra bases with five homers. Paul Goldschmidt went deep twice and drove in six with AL Pollock, Chris Owings and Eric Chavez also leaving the yard and knocking in five runs. The Diamondbacks turn to right hander Josh Collmenter to contain the Dodgers attack in the series finale'. Collmenter has been up and down at times and is 1-2 with a 3.89 ERA in six outings.
I would expect the Dodgers to come out with fire in their belly after Saturday's debacle. It's still tough to back them however...
