The St Louis Cardinals shoot for the series sweep over the Atlanta Braves on Sunday.
Atlanta is tops in the National League East but their grip is far from secure with Washington tapping them on the shoulders in what is a two team race. The Braves missed out on a chance to pick up a game in the standings after a 4-1 defeat at Busch on Saturday for their third loss in four contests. Aaron Harang suffered from poor defense and support with three runs plated (two earned) on six hits in six frames. The bats posted six hits and a trio of walks with Andrelton Simmons scoring on a DP. Gavin Floyd makes his third start of 2014 and second versus St Louis on Sunday. Floyd defeated the Cardinals 2-1 with the lone run scored on six hits and a pair of BB in seven frames.

St Louis has been lacklustre thus far with a lack of offensive punch being the main concern. Having said that the team is still within striking distance of Milwaukee for first in the National League East and have begun to show signs of life. Saturday's win was their third in a row and fourth in five contests as the pitching was outstanding and the hitting clutch. Shelby Miller improved to 6-3 with an unearned run allowed on five hits and a pair of free passes in seven innings. The Cards managed eight hits with Allen Craig, Yadier Molina and Petr Bourjos driving in runs. Left hander Jaime Garcia makes his 2014 debut after shoulder surgery cut his season short a year ago. Garcia was 5-2 with a 3.58 ERA in nine outings in 2013 covering 55.1 innings pitched.
I don't know what to expect from Garcia and for that matter I don't know what the Atlanta offense is going to do. Too many 'I don't knows' for me to bet this but I'll go with the hotter team...
