The Chicago White Sox and the Kansas City Royals continue their battle for second in the AL Central.
The White Sox might be hovering around .500 and their future is an unknown but based on what I have seen from this team thus far they are improved. Chicago moved in to a virtual tie with Kansas City for second in the AL Central after a 7-6 win over their rivals Monday. Starter Scott Carroll was battered for all six runs on nine hits and a trio of BB in just four frames but five relievers put zeros on the board and the offense came to the rescue with an eleven hit attack. Alexei Ramirez homered and drive in four with Paul Konerko slamming a two run bomb while Dayan Viciedo went solo. Andre Rienzo draws the game two start against Kansas City on Tuesday. Although Rienzo is 3-0 on the season he has a 4.20 ERA which can be traced back to the six homers he has served up in five outings.

Kansas City saw a modest two game winning streak end in Monday's loss to the White Sox. This was one that appeared destined for the win column when the Royals jumped to a 5-0 lead in the first but that was the end of both their hitting and pitching. Jason Vargas took the loss with all seven runs plated on three long balls over 4.2 innings pitched. Although four relievers shutdown the White Sox the offense struggled after the first. Overall the numbers were good with ten hits and four walks with Erick Hosmer driving in three and Lorenzo Cain knocking in two more but the KC offense was stymied by the Chicago pen the entire night. Yordano Ventura toes the rubber Tuesday looking to contain an explosive White Sox attack. Ventura has been a positive in the Kansas City rotation with a 2-3 record and a 2.40 ERA in eight starts.
I really like Ventura but I don't like him to pay the big price on him. Rienzo looks capable and the White Sox can score and if I were to bet this I would probably take a chance with the big plus money...
