The New York Mets and the Los Angeles Dodgers face off on Thursday at Citi Field as they close out their series.
The New York Mets are starting to move in the Wrong direction as they are in last place in the NL East and have lost three games in a row. Eric Campbell hit a home run and Juan Lagares, David Wright, and Wilmer Flores each had three hits as the Mets scored three runs on 13 hits. Starting pitcher Jacob deGrom allowed four hits and three runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-2 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Mets start Jon Niese who took the loss in last start. For the season Niese has allowed 47 hits and 14 earned runs while striking out 38 over 49.2 innings for a 2-3 record and a 2.54 ERA.

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in third place in the NL West but they helped their case on Wednesday getting the win in New York. Yasiel Puig, Hanley Ramirez, and Adrian Gonzalez each hit home runs as the Dodgers scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu allowed nine hits and two runs while striking out nine over 6.0 innings to get the win and go to 4-2 for the season and Kenley Jansen earned his 13th save. For Thursday’s game the Dodgers start Zack Greinke who is off to a monster start to the season. For the year Greinke has allowed 48 hits and 12 earned runs while striking out 61 over 53.1 innings for a 7-1 record and a 2.02 ERA.
New York is 2-5 after losing the first two games of the series, 1-6 as an underdog, and 1-6 in Niese’s last seven starts as a home underdog. Los Angles is 5-0 in their last five road games against a left-handed starter, 1-4 in game three of a series, and 4-1 in Greinke’s last five road starts. Los Angeles has defeated the Mets in 11 of the last 12 meetings of these two.
These are two good pitchers but the total looks too low here at 6.5 so I will take the over. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
