The Oakland Athletics take their winning ways to the Rogers Centre to face the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Athletics have been the hottest team in the game with the wins piling up behind solid performances from both their pitching and hitting. However the A's offense and bullpen cost them in an eleven inning, 5-2 defeat at Tampa Bay on Thursday. Sonny Gray gave up a lone run over eight innings with Dan Otero giving up the tying run and exiting with two runners on before Luke Gregerson served up a three run walkoff homer. The offense was stymied on six hits with Yoenis Cespedes knocking in both runs. The Athletics send lefty Scott Kazmir to the mound for the series opener at the Rogers Centre. Kazmir has been very dependable with a 5-1 record and 2.39 ERA in nine 2014 starts.

Toronto hasn't been a slouch in the win department as they have been racking up the wins over the last few weeks and their reward is second in the American League East with first right there for the taking. The Blue Jays topped Boston 7-2 Thursday afternoon for win number eight in ten behind plenty of scoring and shutdown pitching. Mark Buehrle allowed both runs through eight frames to improve to 8-1 while the offense took care of the rest. The Jays ripped the Red Sox for 14 hits and a trio of base on balls with Melky Cabrera going solo while Jose Bautista went deep and knocked in two. Jose Reyes recorded another two RBI's as Toronto led 7-2 after two and were never threatened. Knuckleballer RA Dickey draws Friday's start against the heavy hitting Athletics. Dickey pitched well in a 6-2 loss at Texas where he allowed four runs (three earned) on three hits and three BB in 6.1 frames.
Both teams are playing great baseball and it's never easy to go against the A's but Dickey at home as a dog is also tough to pass up, right or wrong...
