The Houston Astros look to get their offense untracked at the Seattle Mariners in AL West action.
I generally don't say much about teams so early in the season but it's not stepping out on a limb and saying the Astros are destined for the basement in the American League West. Simply not enough hitting and pitching and that trend continued in Friday's 6-1 loss at Seattle. Starter Rudy Owens was hit hard with five runs plated on nine hits and a pair of base on balls through 5.2 innings of work. That meant game over with the Astros managing just five hits with Jose Altuve posting three hits and driving in the lone run. Dallas Keuchel hopes to continue his hot work on the mound when he takes on the Mariners Saturday. Keuchel is 5-2 with a 2.92 ERA in nine outings with a WHIP of 1.05 in 61.2 innings of work.

The Mariners don't appear to have the guns to take the American League West away from Oakland but perhaps a winning record and a shot at a Wild Card might be possiblle. The M's might be getting hot once again after Friday's win was their fourth in five contests with the arms and bats on the same page. Felix Hernandez was in typical form with the lone run allowed in eight frames while recording nine strikeouts. The M's posted eleven hits with Willie Bloomquist going deep and driving in three with Kyle Seager recording two hits and knocking in three more. The Mariners hope for a strong outing from Brandon Mauer when he toes the rubber versus the Astros. Mauer has had a rough start with a 1-2 record and 6.00 ERA over seven outings.
I suppose Keuchel is the best chance the Astros have at winning but in reality is there a best option? I think Mauer can be hit even by Houston so for me it's something small on the visitors or look elsewhere...
