The New York Mets and the Arizona Diamondbacks play game one of a doubleheader on Sunday after being rained out on Friday.
The New York Mets were down on Friday when the game was called and didn’t count but on Saturday they came up a run short against the Diamondbacks. David Wright had three hits including a home run, Curtis Granderson had two hits, and Daniel Murphy had a hit as the Mets scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher Zack Wheeler allowed six hits and three runs, two earned while striking out seven over 6.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 1-5 for the season. For game one on Sunday the Mets start Rafael Montero who is looking for his first major League win. Thus far Montero has allowed 12 hits and eight runs while striking out seven over 10.1 innings for a 0-2 record and a 6.97 ERA.

The Arizona Diamondbacks still have a poor record after their tough start to the season but they have been playing better of late and we saw that again on Saturday. Martin Prado and Gerardo Parra each had two hits and Aaron Hill and Cody Ross had hits as the Diamondbacks scored three runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Josh Collmenter allowed six hits and two runs while striking out four over 6.0 innings to get the win to go to 3-2 for the season and Addison Reed earned his 13th save. For game one on Sunday the Diamondbacks start Bronson Arroyo who is coming off of a loss after reeling off three consecutive wins. For the season Arroyo has allowed 60 hits and 27 earned runs while striking out 33 over 54.2 innings for a 4-3 record and a 4.45 ERA.
New York is 13-7 as a home favorite, 2-6 against the NL West, and 1-6 in their last seven home games against a right-handed starter. Arizona is 5-1 in game two of a series, 3-5 in their last eight games, and 5-10 against a team with a losing record. Arizona is 1-5 in their last six meetings with New York.
Booth of these pitchers allow plenty of scoring so at 7.5 the over seems like a solid play. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
