The Toronto Blue Jays look to tighten their grip on the top spot in the AL East when they meet Tampa Bay on Monday.
Almost every team in the American League East is deemed a challenger for the division crown and Tampa Bay is always a team to keep an eye on. The Rays hven't done much to grab attention but perhaps things are turning for the better with the team winning four in a row after defeating Boston 8-5 on Sunday behind some rare offense. Jake Odorizzi gave up just a run in six innings before Joel Peralta and Josh Lueke allowed a pair of runs each. The bats haven't always been consistent but did plenty of damage with a ten hit, five walk attack that saw Sean Rodriguez slug a PH three run homer and Yunel Escobar double in two. Red hot Erik Bedard hopes to continue his torid pitching when he faces Tampa Bay on the road. Bedard hat logged five consecutive quality starts in which he has allowed a total of three earned runs.

Toronto has been the hottest team in the American League East with wins nine of ten after knocking off visiting Oaklamd 3-1 Sunday. The reward is first place in the division and strengthening their grip on the top spot with both the pitching and hitting making contributions. The pitching of JA Happ carried the load Sunday with a four hit shutout over sven innings. The Jays attack produced ten hits and four walks with Jose Bautista driving in two while Edwin Encarnacion homered. The Blue Jays hand the ball to Drew Hutchison who hopes to build on back to back great starts. In these two Hutchison has has a complete game shutout and a one run, six inning stint under his belt.
Tampa Bay definitely has the better hurler going but the offensive edge belongs to Toronto who has been racking up the wins. I am leaning to the hotter team but will look at this further...
