The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Tuesday in Los Angeles for game two of their series.
The Los Angeles Dodgers came up with another big outing from their starting pitching on Monday to beat the Reds. Carl Crawford had two hits and Andre Ethier and Drew Butera added hits and the Dodgers scored four runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Hyun-Jin Ryu carried a perfect game into the eighth inning but he allowed three hits and three runs while striking out seven over 7.1 innings to get the win to go to 5-2 for the season and Kenley Jansen earned his 15th save. For Tuesday’s game the Dodgers start Zack Greinke who is having a career year. For the season Greinke has allowed 52 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 65 over 58.1 innings for a 7-1 record and a 2.01 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds never stopped trying on Monday but in the end they didn’t have enough to get the win. Billy Hamilton had two hits and Todd Frazier and Ryan Ludwick had hits as the Reds scored three runs on five hits. Starting pitcher Johnny Cueto allowed four hits and four runs, one earned, while striking out three over 6.1 innings to take the loss to fall to 4-4 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Reds start Alfredo Simon who has won his last two starts and is having the best season of his career. For the season Simon has allowed 45 hits and 15 earned runs while striking out 36 over 58.1 innings for a 6-2 record and a 2.31 ERA.
Los Angeles is 3-7 against the NL Central, 4-9 at home against a team with a losing record, and 16-3 in Greinke’s last 19 home starts. Cincinnati is 3-9 in their last 12 road games, 1-8 in game two of a series, and 6-1 in Simon’s last seven starts. Cincinnati is 1-6 in their last seven games in Los Angeles.
This game looks like another close one and while I don’t like laying the big number here Greinke at home is awfully tough.
