Texas is starting to play well and better continue to rack up the wins to keep Oakland from running away with the American League West. Starter Nick Tepesch improved to 2-0 with both runs plated on seven hits over 6.2 innings of work. Texas sends Yu Darvish to the bump in game two versus the Twins. Darvish has logged quality starts in eight of nine outings and has gone 4-2 with a 2.35 ERA covering 61.1 innings.

Minnesota has been a pleasant surprise in 2014 and in order to stay that way they need to end their current skid before it becomes too large. The Twins loss to surging Texas on Monday was number four in a row with neither the work at the plate or on the mound getting the job done. Kevin Correia didn't have his best stuff but kept the home team hanging around with four runs scored on seven hits through seven frames before Jared Burton let it get out of hand with three runs scored on three hits and a BB in one inning of work. The nine hit attack saw Trevor Plouffe nail his 4th homer and Eduardo Escobar rap a run scoring hit. Phil Hughes looks to continue his strong pitching when he takes the mound against the Rangers Tuesday. Hughes is 5-1 with a 3.15 ERA in nine starts over 54.1 innings.
I don't think there is very much difference in the respective hurlers but the Rangers have been hitting and scoring so I'll side with their offense...
