The Los Angeles Dodgers go for the sweep of the visiting Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday night.
Cincinnati has been in a funk to kick off the 2014 campaign and that isn't a good thing with St Louis looking like they are ready to take off. The Reds struggled in most areas in falling to the Dodgers by a 6-3 count on Tuesday for loss number four in a row. Alfredo Simon didn't last long with five runs plated on five hits and four BB in 3.2 frames. That was too much for a struggling offense to match on eight hits with Devin Mesoraco slamming a two run homer. Homer Bailey takes the ball looking to salvege the final game of their series with the Dodgers. After a slow start to the season Homer Bailey has generally thrown the ball well with quality starts in four of five outings.

The Dodgers are chasing rival San Francisco in the National League West and need to keep piling up the wins to stay close although Colorado appears dangerous as well meaning the competition is far tougher then it was a year ago. Los Angeles did their part Tuesday with both the arms and bats on the same page. Zack Greinke came through with another strong performance with all three runs plated on eight hits on 7.2 frames while whiffing eleven to improve to 8-1. The bats mustered eight hits and five BB with Andre Ethier going solo and smacking bases loaded triple. Ace left hander Clayton Kershaw is trying to return from the disabled list with another strong outing. Kershaw was in top form in a 2-0 victory at Philadelphia with a two hit shutout over six innings.
Clayton Kershaw as a big home fave isn't unusual but honestly is hard to back here as Bailey has done well against the Dodgers. No interest for me with better games to choose from...
