The Philadelphia Phillies and he New York Mets face off on Saturday in Philadelphia after playing a 14 inning marathon on Friday.
The Philadelphia Phillies are four games under .500 at home this season but they were able to get it done on Friday beating the Mets in Philly. Dominic Brown hit a home run, Carlos Ruiz had four hits, and Jimmy Rollins had two hits as the Phillies scored six runs on 14 hits. Starting pitcher A.J. Burnett allowed five hits and five runs while striking out 11 over 7.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Justin De Fratus got the win. For Saturday’s game the Phillies start Kyle Kendrick who won his last start. For the season Kendrick has allowed 64 hits and 28 earned runs while striking out 37 over 62.1 innings for a 1-5 record and a 4.04 ERA.

The New York Mets battled for the full game on Friday but it wasn’t enough in the end to get the win. Bobby Abreu, Travis d’Arnaud, and Ruben Tejada each had two hits as the Mets scored five runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Rafael Montero allowed seven hits and four runs lasting just 3.2 innings to not factor in the decision as Jenrry Mejia took the loss to fall to 4-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Mets start Jacob deGrom who is still looking for his first win. For the season deGrom has allowed 13 hits and four runs while striking out 14 over 19.2 innings for an 0-2 record and a 1.83 ERA.
Philadelphia is 5-1 as a home favorite, 2-4 against the NL East, and 1-6 in Kendrick’s last seven starts in game three of a series. New York is 4-2 in their last six games, 4-1 on the road against a team with a losing record, and 2-6 on the road against a right-handed starter. New York is 7-3 in their last10 games against Philadelphia.
