The Cleveland Indians and the Boston Red Sox face off on Tuesday at Progressive Field for game two of their series.

The Cleveland Indians have had a challenging season but they looked just fine on Monday beating the Red Sox. David Murphy had three hits, Michael Bourn had two hits, and Lonnie Chisenhall had a hit and two RBI’s as the Indians scored three runs on eight hits. Justin Masterson allowed three hits and struck out 10 over 7.0 scoreless innings and Cody Allen earned his fourth save.  For Tuesday’s game the Indians start T.J. House who has a loss and a no decision in his two starts. For the season House has allowed 16 hits and six runs while striking out nine over 13.1 innings for a 0-1 record and a 4.05 ERA.

USA TODAY Sports

The Boston Red Sox had a seven game winning streak heading into Monday’s game and despite a comeback effort. Xander Bogaerts had two hits including a home run and David Ortiz and Dustin Pedroia each had hits as the Red Sox had scored two runs on five hits. Starting pitcher John Lackey allowed eight hits and three runs while striking out three over 8.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-4 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Red Sox start Jake Peavy who has four no decisions and two losses in his last six starts. For the season Peavy has allowed 70 hits and 34 earned runs while striking out 52 over 68 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.50 ERA.

Cleveland is 7-0 in their last seven home games, 5-0 at home against a right-handed starter, and 0-4 in their last four games as an underdog. Boston is 7-1 in their last eight games, 2-7 as a favorite, and 1-5 in Peavy’s last six road starts. Boston is 7-2 in the last nine meetings with Cleveland.

With the total set at 8.5 I will give the over a slight lean as the bats should be out. My stronger play is on the winning side and I will post that in the Premium Area as well as on the App.
