The Philadelphia Phillies head down the interstate to take the field with the Washington Nationals.
Philadelphia hasn't gotten strong enough hitting or pitching on a consistent basis in 2014 and the result is a team that is in last place in the National League East at seven games below .500 after the Mets exploded for an 11-2 victory on Monday. Nothing went well for the Phillies who needed a big effort from Roberto Hernandez with the pen spent. It didn't happen with Hernandez touched for five runs over 5.1 innings with Jake Diekman allowing four more and Phillipe Aumont two. The offense couldn't keep pace with the bright spot being Ryan Howard's 40th RBI. Rookie David Buchanan makes his third career start when he faces Washington on Monday. Buchanan has thrown the ball well in his first two outings in going 1-1 with a 3.86 ERA in 12 innings.

Washington has not been able to string the wins together this year and that has much to do with the offense disappearing in stretches. The Nationals had pounded out 19 runs in defeating Texas in the first two games of their series but the offense was completely silent in a 2-0 loss Sunday. Facing Yu Darvish had something to do with the lack of scoring and starter Tanner Roark paid the price with a loss despite giving up a single run on a solo homer over seven innings pitched. Drew Storen allowed an 8th inning run but it mattered little with the bats managing just five hits and walking twice with Denard Span recording a pair of hits. The Nationals give the ball to Jordan Zimmermann who has been in a bit of a funk lately. Zimmermann is 1-1 in his last three starts with a 5.29 ERA covering 17.2 innings
Both teams have been finding ways to lose and aren't very dependable when looking to wager on them. Depending on which Washington team shows up they would be my choice but Zimmermann also has to show...
