The San Francisco Giants and the New York Mets face off on Friday at AT&T Park for game one of their series.

The San Francisco Giants have the best record in baseball and they return home from their successful road trip. The Giants are 19-9 at home, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and they have won their last two games. As a team the Giants are hitting .244 with Angel Pagan hitting .321, Hunter Pence hitting .290, and Michael Morse hitting .286. For game one against the Mets the Giants start Matt Cain who is returning off of the 15-day DL. For the season Cain has allowed 40 hits and 17 earned runs while striking out 39 over 46.2 innings with a 103 record and a 3.66 ERA.

San Francisco Giants vs. New York Mets MLB Pick, Odds, Prediction 6/6/14

USA TODAY Sports

The New York Mets are coming off of getting swept in Chicago by the Cubs in a series where their pitching staff struggled. The Mets are 15-15 on the road, 6-4 in their last 10 games, and they have lost three games in a row. As a team the Mets are hitting .235 with Daniel Murphy hitting .297, David Wright hitting .285, and Lucas Duda hitting .243. The Mets pitching staff has an ERA of 3.59 with the starters at 3.75 and the bullpen at 3.30. For game one in San Francisco the Mets start Jon Niese who has no decisions in his last two starts. For the season Niese has allowed 63 hits and 21 earned runs while striking out 51 over 70.1 innings for a 3-3 record and a 2.69 ERA.

The Giants are 6-1 in their last seven games, 29-11 in their last 40 games, and 3-10 in Cain’s last 13 starts. New York is 3-7 against the NL West, 1-5 in game one of a series, and 4-1 in Niese’s last five starts. New York has won five in a row in San Francisco.

The Giants are a decent sized favorite here and despite their lack of success against the Mets I like them to win here.
