The Milwaukee Brewers and Pittsburgh Pirates collide in the series rubber match at PNC Park.
The Brewers hot start has gotten them first in the National League Central but with so many teams in the division they have to avoid losing streaks to stay on top. The Brew Crew have proven to have the pitching and hitting in the early going and need both to produce over the long run. Both were enough in Saturday's 9-3 rout of the Pirates with Matt Garza taking advantage of the support with three runs plated over six frames. Ryan Braun and Lyle Overbay led the scoring spree with a pair of RBI's each. Yovani Gallardo takes the ball in the final game of their series at PNC Park on Sunday. Gallardo has struggled at times in 2014 with a 3-4 record and 4.08 ERA in 12 starts.

Pittsburgh has been steadily chipping away at the Brewers lead in the NL Central but before this team can think about challenging in the division they have to get to .500 and take it from there. The offense has been picking up the pace lately and needed to Saturday with the pitching struggling but not enough help came from the bats. Edinson Volquez was charged with four runs in six innings and left trailing 4-3 but the game was put away with Justin Wilson giving up four more in 2/3 of an inning. The Buccos had plenty of opportunities with eight hits and six free passes with Pedro Alvarez driving in two. Charlie Morton shoots for just his third victory of the season when he takes the hill versus the division leading Brewers. Morton has thrown the ball better then his 2-7 record as his 3.31 ERA indicates.
Gallardo has really had success versus the Pirates but hasn't been very good lately so does he find the groove Sunday? I'm backing the home team but not comfortable with either team...
