The Los Angeles Angels host the Oakland Athletics in a battle for supremacy in the AL West.
When I watch Oakland when they are playing well it's hard to imagine this team losing but at the end of the day the American League West is competitive and the Athletics are having a hard time pulling away. The Athletics dropped a game in the standings with a 4-1 loss to the Angels in the series opener. Jesse Chaves was charged with three runs (two earned) on eight hits over six innings of work. Unfortunately that was a losing effort with the offense producing four hits with Stephen Vogt rapping and RBI single. Lefty Drew Pomeranz gets the starting nod Tuesday versus the Angels. Pomeranz is coming in off his longest outing of the season where he gave up an earned run in seven innings.

The Angels were hot and then went in to a slide and I'm thinking this is the beginning of the end with the Athletics threatening to pull away but Los Angeles refused to die and have won four in a row after knocking off the A's Monday. Garrett Richards held the big offense of the A's to only a run through seven frames with the bats getting the job done on eleven hits and a pair of walks. Mike Trout led the attack with a pair of RBI's with Raul Ibanez and Hank Conger knocking in two. Tyler Skaggs takes the ball Tuesday against Oakland hoping his ailing hamstring is good to go. Skaggs is 4-4 on the season with a 4.34 ERA in 76.2 innings pitched.
Both hurlers have given up runs in this match up so this is a toss up in my view so I'll side with the home team as small dogs...
