The Minnesota Twins are in last place in the AL Central but they moved a game closer to the Tigers on Tuesday beating the Jays in Toronto. Brian Dozier hit a home run and Daniel Santana, Kendrys Morales, and Eduardo Nunez each had two hits as the Twins scored four runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Kevin Correia allowed six hits over 6.0 scoreless innings to get the win and go to 3-7 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Twins start Phil Hughes who is coming off of a loss that ended a six decision winning streak. For the season Hughes has allowed 76 hits and 29 earned runs while striking out 63 over 75.1 innings for a 6-2 record and a 3.46 ERA.
Toronto is 5-1 in game three of a series, 21-8 in their last 29 games, and 11-6 in their last 17 home games. Minnesota is 1-6 following a win, 8-3 against the AL East, and 8-1 in Hughes’ last nine starts. Minnesota is 8-20 in the last 28 meetings with Toronto.
Hughes is a huge underdog here but he has been money and is well worth a shot at this price.
