The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Saturday in Milwaukee for game two of their series.
The Milwaukee Brewers lead the NL Central but their lead shrunk on Friday as they lost to the Reds. Scooter Gennett and Jonathan Lucroy each had two hits and Khris Davis hit a home run as he Brewers scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Matt Garza allowed seven hits and five runs, one earned, while striking out one over 7.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Francisco Rodriguez took the loss to fall to 2-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Brewers start Yovani Gallardo who has won two of his last three starts. For the season Gallardo has allowed 71 hits and 32 earned runs while striking out 60 over 77.2 innings for a 4-4 record and a 3.71 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds continue to get healthy and they showed that on Friday getting the win against the first place Brewers. Todd Frazier, Jay Bruce, and Zack Cozart each had two hits as the Reds scored six runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Homer Bailey allowed six hits and four runs while striking out six over 6.1 innings to get a no decision as Jonathan Broxton got he win to go to 2-0 and Aroldis Chapman earned his 11th save. For Saturday’s game the Reds start mat Latos who makes his first start of the season. Last year Latos went 14-7 with a 3.16 ERA.
Milwaukee is 5-1 in their last six games, 10-4 as a favorite, and 2-5 in Gallardo’s last last seven starts in game two of a series. Cincinnati is 5-1 in their last six home games, 6-18 in game two of a series, and 40-18 in Latos last 58 starts. Cincinnati is 5-9 in their last 14 games in Milwaukee.
