The San Diego Padres and New York Mets continue their series at Citi Field on Saturday.
The Padres struggles at the plate has the team behind the eight ball and really has eliminated them from contention in the National League West. The scoring woes continued in the series opener at Citi Field and that was bad news with the work on the mound having issues. Andrew Cashner was charged with four runs over six frames which was too much for the Padres five hit attack that received a two run homer from Rene Rivera and nothing else. San Diego hands the ball to rookie Jesse Hahn for his second consecutive start. Hahn struggled the first time out in a 4-1 defeat at Pittsburgh with all four runs plated on six hits including a pair of homers in 3.2 innings.

The Mets have had their share of struggles at the plate and that has taken them out of the running in the National League East. The most reasonable goal appears to staying ahead of Philadelphia and avoid the division basement. The Mets received some rare offense in a 6-2 victory over San Diego on Friday while Bartolo Colon holding the Padres to a pair of runs through 7.1 innings. New York pounded out eleven hits with Bobby Abreu going 4-4 with two RBI's. Zack Wheeler hopes to get back in the win column against San Diego in game two. Wheeler struggled last time out in a 6-4 loss at San Francisco with four runs plated on six hits in 3.2 frames.
Wheeler isn't a bad option for the Mets while Hahn is a mystery with no track record to go on. No line out but I am leaning New York...
