The Texas Rangers and Seattle Mariners continue their battle for third in the AL West on Saturday night.
The Rangers were labeled as a team to watch in 2014 and have yet to live up to that billing. The goal for this team is to get their pitching and hitting going in the same direction and get to .500. Texas took a step in the right direction with a 1-0 victory over Seattle on Friday. Nick Tepesch continued to have success against the Mariners with a two hitter over 6.1 innings with three relievers finishing the M's off. The bats broke through in the 9th when Adrian Beltre's grounder scored Elvis Andrus. The Rangers send lefty Joe Saunders to the bump for his 5th start of the 2014 campaign. Saunders has done a decent job in limited opportunities with a 3.60 ERA.

Seattle has shown to be better then they have been in season's past but that doesn't mean a thing if they tank the rest of the way. The Mariners seem to a decent offense but need both the arms and bats to do well to succeed. Felix Hernandez did everything but toss a shutout and needed to with the lone run plated through 8.1 innings resulting in a loss. The offense simply didn't hit the ball with a double and single from Mike Zunino the only Mariners hits. Erasmo Ramirez toes the rubber versus the Rangers looking for consistency. Ramires has been either good or bad with little in between with 1-4 record and an ERA just south of six.
I am not a big fan of Saunders but on paper he appears to have the advantage on the mound. I am thinking the Rangers should be able to provide some support and Seattle will score a few to get the over...
