The Milwaukee Brewers and the Cincinnati Reds face off on Sunday at Miller Park as they close out their series.
The Milwaukee Brewers trailed for most of the game on Saturday but they rallied late to beat the Reds. Ryan Braun hit a home run, Scooter Gennett had two hits, and Aramis Ramirez and Carlos Gomez each had hits as the Brewers scored four runs on six hits. Starting pitcher Yovani Gallardo allowed six hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to not get a decision as Will Smith blew the save but got the win and Francisco Rodriguez earned his 21st save. For Sunday’s game the Brewers start Marco Estrada who is coming off of a loss in his last start. For the season Estrada has allowed 69 hits and 40 earned runs while striking out 71 over 79 innings for a 5-3 record and a 4.56 ERA.

The Cincinnati Reds were battling all game but in the end they let it slip away falling to the Brewers on Saturday. Billy Hailton had two hits including a home run, Brandon Phillips had two hits, and Joey Votto had a hit as the Reds scored two runs on seven hits. Starting pitcher mat Latos allowed two hits and struck out four over 6.0 scoreless innings to not get a decision as Logan Ondrusel blew the save and J.J. Hoover took the loss to fall to 1-5 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Reds start Mike Leake who has lost three of his last four starts. For the season Leake has allowed 84 hits and 35 earned runs while striking out 63 over 87.1 innings for a 3-6 record and a 3.61 ERA.
Milwaukee is 22-7 in game three of a series, 4-1 in their last five Sunday games, and 2-5 in Estrada’s last seven starts against a team with a losing record. Cincinnati is 4-1 in their last five road games, 4-1 in game three of a series, and 2-8 in Leake’s last 10 starts. Cincinnati is 4-2 in the last six meetings of these two.
