The Oakland A’s and the Texas Rangers face off on Monday in Oakland in game one of their AL West series.
The Oakland A’s haven’t been on top of their game of late but they continu to lead the American League West. The Athletics are 19-13 at home this season, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they have won their last two games. As a team the A’s are hitting .247 with Derek Norris hitting .305, Coco Crisp hitting .274, and Brandon Moss is hitting .264. The A’s pitching staff has an ERA of 2.85 with the starters at 2.96 and the bullpen at 2.63. For game one against the Rangers the A’s start Drew Pomeranz who had a no decision in his last start despite allowing just four hits and a run. For the season Pomeranz has allowed 38 hits and 11 earned runs while striking out 44 over 52 innings for a 5-3 record and a 1.90 ERA.

The Texas Rangers haven’t been able to put anything together this season but they enter this series just a game under .500. The Rangers are 18-16 on the road, 5-5 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a loss at Seattle on Sunday. As a team the Rangers are hitting .265 with Alex Rios hitting .322, Adrian Beltre hitting .310, and Leonys Martin hitting .267. As a team the Rangers are hitting 4.44 with the starters at 4.47 and the bullpen at 4.38. For game one against A’s the Rangers start Colby Lewis who has two no decisions and a loss in his last three starts. For the season Lewis has allowed 82 hit and 37 earned runs while striking out 49 over 58 innings for a 4-4 record and a 5.74 ERA.
Oakland is 5-1 in their last six home games, 5-2 against the AL West, and 37-15 as a favorite. Texas is 8-3 in their last 11 road games, 1-4 as an underdog, and 4-1 in Lewis’ last five starts as a road underdog. Texas has won four of their last five game sin Oakland.
