The Seattle Mariners visit Petco Park to square off with the San Diego Padres on Wednesday night.
Seattle looks like they are going to hang around in the American League West although challenging in the division might not happen. The Mariners lost four in a row before winning three straight following Tuesday's 6-1 victory over San Diego. Roenis Elias has been up and down but was up here with the only run plated on three hits over seven frames to improve to 6-5. Robinson Cano and Jesus Montero slammed long balls and drove in two while Kyle Seager doubled in two more. Felix Hernandez takes the mound at San Diego looking to continue his Cy Young type season. Hernandez is 8-2 with a 2.29 ERA in 15 outings where the team has gone 10-4.

If you follow San Diego you are well aware that this team has struggled at the plate in previous seasons and this year has been much the same. Those struggles continued in a 6-1 defeat to the Mariners on Tuesday where the pitching also struggled. Eric Stults gave up three runs on six hits including a pair of homers through five innings with Tim Stauffer giving up a pair in two innings. The Padres mustered four hits with Rene Rivera cracking homerun number 16. Andrew Cashner takes the ball in Wednesday's outing versus visiting Seattle. Cashner has been as good as anybody but sometimes lacks support with 2-6 record despite a 2.47 ERA.
The numbers say the match up on the mouund is fairly even but I am looking at each offense and I feel the Mariners have the best chance to score so I'll back them with the King...
