The New York Mets and Miami Marlins begin a four-game series on Thursday at Marlins Park.

The Mets avoided getting swept by the St. Louis Cardinals, but have still lost 11 of 17 games in the month of June. The Mets offense continues to struggle like no other, producing three or less runs in seven of their last eight games. Lucas Duda has gotten on base at least once in nine of his last 10 games and Curtis Granderson has been a lot more patient at the plate, drawing 10 walks in his last 10 games. The Mets pitching staff has an ERA of 3.66. Zack Wheeler takes the mound, and he’s 2-7 with a 4.38 ERA and has 79 strikeouts in 78 innings. Wheeler is 0-0 with a 1.42 ERA in three career starts against the Marlins.

The Marlins have also had their issues recently, losing five of their last seven games and back-to-back series at home. The Marlins have allowed four or more runs in seven of their last eight games. The Marlins season ERA has now dropped to 3.83 and seems to be dropping by the game. Offensively, Giancarlo Stanton has homered three times in his last six games, but he left Wednesday’s game with a wrist injury and is questionable for this matchup. Andrew Heaney makes his major league debut with this start. Heaney was 17-7 with a 2.31 ERA and had 198 strikeouts in 199 innings in the minors.

The Mets are 4-1 in their last 5 vs. National League East and 2-5 in Wheeler's last 7 road starts. The Marlins are 2-6 in their last 8 games as a favorite and 10-4 in their last 14 vs. National League East. The Mets are 0-5 in the last 5 meetings in Miami.

I just can't pick the Mets with the way they've playing and the fact they were swept the last time they played in Miami. I have faith in the up-and-coming rookie, especially at the cheap price.
