The Los Angeles Angels and the Texas Rangers face off on Saturday in Anaheim for game two of their series of AL West rivals.
The Los Angeles Angels jumped all over the Rangers on Friday to take game one of the series. C.J. Cron had two hits including a home run and Josh Hamilton and David Freese had two hits each as the Angels scored seven runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Garrett Richards allowed four hits and a run while striking out seven over 6.0 innings to get the win and raise his record to 7-2 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Angels start Jered Weaver who has lost three of his last four starts. For the season Weaver has allowed 81 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 75 over 95.2 innings for a 7-6 record and a 3.67 ERA.

The Texas Rangers scored first on Saturday against the Angels but it wasn’t nearly enough as they lost a one sided game. Michale Choice hit a home run, Elvis Andrus had two hits, and Shin-Soo Choo and Adrian Beltre each had hits as the Rangers scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher Joe Saunders allowed 10 hits and seven runs, four of them earned, while striking out three over 4.2 innings to take the loss and fall to 0-3 for the season. For Saturday’s game the Rangers start Nicholas Martinez who has lost his last three starts. For the season Martinez has allowed 66 hits and 26 earned runs while striking out 25 over 52.2 innings for a 1-4 record and a 4.44 ERA.
Los Angeles is 8-1 in their last nine home games, 6-1 as a home favorite, and 39-14 in Weaver’s last 53 home starts. Texas is 2-6 following a loss, 2-8 as an underdog, and 1-5 in their last six games. Texas is 20-9 in the last 29 meetings of these two.
The Angels are laying a big number here and I do like them to win though the number may keep me away from going to the window with them.
