The Houston Astros and Tampa Bay Rays will play game three of four on Saturday afternoon.
The Astros snapped a four-game losing streak on Friday and are nine games below a .500 record. The Astros pitching continues to be their downfall, as they’ve allowed four or more runs in seven of their last 10 games. The Astros have the 25th worst ERA in baseball at 4.16. Offensively, the Astros have actually picked things up, including Matt Dominguez, who has eight RBI in his last 10 games. Brad Peacock takes the mound, and he’s 2-4 with a 4.50 ERA and has 60 strikeouts in 66 innings. This is Peacock’s second career start against the Rays.

The Astros have won five of their last nine games, but are still a horrible 17 games below a .500 record. While the Rays have an ERA of 3.94, it’s been their offense that has produced three or less runs in 12 of their last 22 games. Evan Longoria has hit safely in eight of his last nine games and Yunel Escobar has an RBI in five of his last six games. Jake Odorizzi gets the nod, and he’s 2-7 with a 4.73 ERA and has 81 strikeouts in 70.1 innings. This is Odorizzi’s first career game against the Astros.
The Astros are 0-4 in Peacock's last 4 road starts and 3-8 in Peacock's last 11 starts as an underdog. The Rays are 3-10 in Odorizzi's last 13 starts and 2-5 in Odorizzi's last 7 home starts. The Astros are 3-13 in the last 16 meetings.
Both teams are terrible and both pitchers are awful. In these spots, I'm always looking for the team that's giving me more value. In that case, I'm backing the Astros and the plus money.
