The Colorado Rockies look to break in to the win column versus the visiting St Louis Cardinals.
St Louis seems to have worked the kinks out and once again look like a threat in the National League Central. The bats and arms both came through in a 5-3 victory over the Phillies on Sunday for consecutive wins. Starter Carlos Martinez gave up all three runs on three hit and a BB over five innings to pick up his first win while four relievers put up zeros. The Redbirds pounded out 12 hits with Jhonny Peralta and Mark Ellis driving in a pair of runs each. The Cardinals hope Lance Lynn continues his hot pitching when he takes the hill versus the Rockies on Monday. Lynn is just 1-2 over his last three despite a 1.89 ERA.

Not much can be said about the Rockies over the past week except the pitching has been a problem. The Rockies did plenty of scoring over the weekend but the Brewers did more after a 6-5 loss Sunday left Colorado looking at a six game slide. Starter Tyler Matzek struggled early and Colorado was playing from behind again with five runs plated through five innings on seven hits and four free passes. The bats racked up 15 hits and four bases on balls with Wilin Rosario posting four hits including a homerun with three RBI's and a pair of runs scored. Colorado sends Jhoulys Chacin to the hill to open the weekday series with St Louis. Chacin has been outstanding as of late with a 1-1 record and a 2.84 ERA in three outings.
I could make an argument for either hurler but sometimes I don't give Lynn as much credit as he deserves. If he contains Colorado at Coors Field I'll give him plenty of credit...
