The Los Angeles Angels and the Minnesota Twins face off on Wednesday in Anaheim for game tow of their series.
The Los Angeles Angels jumped out to an early lead on Tuesday but in the end it was a battle at the pulled out the home win. Mike Trout hit a home run and Josh Hamilton and Howie Kendrick had two hits each as the Angels scored eight runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher C.J. Wilson allowed nine hits and six earned runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to get the win to go to 8-6 for the season and Joe Smith earned his sixth save. The Minnesota Twins fell behind on Tuesday but they didn’t give up but in the end tey didn’t have enough to get the win. Josh Willingham and Kendrys Morales each hit home runs and Brian Dozier had three hits as the Twins scored six runs on 11 hits. Starting pitcher Kyle Gibson was rocked allowing four hits and seven runs while striking out just one over 2.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 6-6 for the season. For Wednesday’s game the Twins start Yohan Pino who has a no decision in his only major League start. In his last outing Pino allowed five hits and two runs while striking out seven over 7.0 innings for a no decision.
Los Angeles is 5-1 in their last six games, 22-8 in their last 30 home games, and 19-6 in Richards’ last 25 starts as a favorite. Minnesota is 4-1 in their last five games, 1-4 against the AL West, and 0-6 in their last six road games. Minnesota is 5-2 in the last seven meetings of these two.
Richards and the Angels are big favorites here and while I don’t think the price is justified I do see Richards as the play though I won’t be playing it at these odds.
