The Detroit Tigers look to stretch their lead in the Central with another win over the Texas Rangers.
After losing the top spot in the American League Central to Kansas City a week ago before finally turning things around and ripping off five consecutive victories after knocking off Texas 8-2 on Wednesday. Drew Smyly took care of business on the mound with a single run scored over six innings to pick up the win. The Tigers pounded out 16 hits with Ian Kinsler and JD Martinez leaving the yard and combining for five RBI's while Rajai Davis drove in three more. Anibal Sanchez is scheduled to be on the mound for Wednesday's start at Texas. Sanchez has some very good numbers with a 4-2 record and 2.33 ERA covering 12 outings.

The Rangers simply can't afford a losing streak of any length with Oakland looking capable of running away with the division but that's where they find themselves with six defeats in a row after Wednesday's loss. The bats and arms have been struggling in this span and they couldn't shake that trend Wednesday with Colby Lewis giving up four runs through 6.1 innings before Benjamin Rowen and Aaron Pareda gave up two runs apiece. The Rangers totaled nine hits with Leonys Martin and Adrian Beltre knocking in runs. Left hander Joe Saunders toes the rubber in Wednesday's bout with the heavy hitting Tigers. Saunders has made only six starts in 2014 with a 0-3 record and 4.11 ERA.
These teams are heading in opposite directions right now and Detroit needs to win to distance themselves in the Central while the Rangers are fighting to stay alive in the West. I'm going with the hot team...
