The New York Yankees look to close the gap on the Toronto Blue Jays in AL East action on Wednesday.
The Yankees are locked in a three way battle for supremacy in the American League East and need to avoid the peaks and valleys that have plagued them over the past few weeks. The Yanks rallied from a 6-0 hole only to fall 7-6 and drop a game in the standings to Toronto. David Phelps was charged with six runs over five frames with Adam Warren allowing the winner in the 9th without recording an out. Derek Jeter and Brian Roberts clubbed long balls with offense tying the score with a five spot in the 7th. Veteran Hiroki Kuroda get the call to the hill in game two of their series at the Rogers Centre. Kuroda is not having a strong 2014 with a 4-5 record and 4.23 ERA over 15 outings.

Toronto is holding on to the lead in the American League East...barely as they have been struggling to get both their hitting and pitching on the same page. The team that could do no wrong a few weeks backs is having problems in most areas and that trend continued despite Tuesday's win. Starter Mark Buehrle gave up four runs on eight hits including a pair of homers through 6.2 frames before Dustin McGowan gave up two more to tie the game. Dioner Navarro paced the attack with a homer and three RBI's with Colby Rasmus knocking in two more. The Blue Jays send Drew Hutchison to the mound to face the Yankees for the second time this season. Hutchison has allowed ten runs on 12 hits over 7.2 innings in his two outings versus New York.
Hutchison has struggled in this match up for whatever reason so I am lookin at the Yankees but backing Kuroda isn't as good as it used to be...
