The Kansas City Royals hope to slowdown the surging Los Angeles Angels in the final game of their series.
The Angels might not win the American League West but they are making the Athletics look over their shoulders. The LAA have won eight of ten after disposing of the Royals 6-2 on Saturday where both the arms and bats have been contributing. Hector Santiago threw four scoreless frames in a weather delayed contest with Mike Morin getting the win despite giving up both runs. David Freese led the offense with three RBI's while Albert Pujols knocked in two more. Left hander CJ Wilson takes the bump in the finale' of their weekend set at Kansas City. Wilson has generally thrown the ball well in 2014 but struggled last time out in an 8-6 win over the Twins with six runs allowed in five frames.

Since taking the lead in the American League Central a few weeks back things have not been going well for the Royals. KC has dropped seven of ten after Saturday's defeat where the offense has been almost a non factor. Yordano Ventura gave up two runs in four frames before the rains came and was saddled with the loss when Bruce Chen came on and was charged with four runs through five innings that put the game way out of reach. The bats continued to struggle with just six hits with Salvador Perez and Omar Infante driving in runs. Jeremy Guthrie toes the rubber against the Angels Sunday looking for his 4th consecutive victory. In his last three outings Guthrie has logged a 2.25 ERA.
The Angels are the far better team but Guthrie has been hot and has been one of the few bright spots for Kansas City. I'm just going with the better team angle but I'll likely sit this one out...
