The Toronto Blue Jays and the Milwaukee Brewers face off on Tuesday in Toronto for game one of their interleague series.
The Toronto Blue Jays are still in first place in the AL East but it is a division where the leaders have been doing a whole lot of losing recently. The Blue Jays are 23-21 at home, 4-6 in their last 10 games, and they have lost their last three games. As a team the Blue Jays are hitting .260 with Jose Bautista hitting .304, Melky Cabrera hitting .299, and Edwin Encarnacion hitting .278. The Blue Jays pitching staff has an ERA of 4.09 with the starters at 3.87 and the bullpen at 4.51. For game one against the Brewers Toronto starts Drew Hutchison who has lost three of his last four starts. For the season Hutchison has allowed 88 hits and 41 earned runs while striking out 79 over 92.1 innings for a 5-6 record and a 4.00 ERA.

The Milwaukee Brewers have the best record in the National League, the second best record in all of baseball, and lead the NL Central by 6.5 games. The Brewers are 27-15 on the road, 7-3 in their last 10 games, and they are coming off of a home loss to the Rockies on Sunday. As a team the Brewers are hitting .261 with Jonathan Lucroy hitting .334, Scooter Gennet hitting .311, and Carlos Gomez hitting .310. As a team the Brewers pitching staff has an ERA of 3.62 with the starters at 3.72 and the bullpen 3.39. For game one at Toronto the Brewers start Marco Estrada who has won his last two starts. For the season Estrada has allowed 89 hits and 54 earned runs while striking out 85 over 96 innings for a 7-4 record and a 5.06 ERA.
Toronto is 1-4 in their last five games, 11-3 in game one of a series, and 1-5 in Hutchison’s last six starts. Milwaukee is 4-0 in their last four road games, 4-1 in their last five games, and 5-1 in Eastrada’s last six starts as an underdog. Milwaukee is 7-1 in the last eight meetings of these two.
I don’t’ like the matchup in this one for the Brewers as Estrada in an AL park isn’t a good fit and I like the Jays here.
