The Baltimore Orioles head to Fenway Park to open a weekend set with the Boston Red Sox Saturday after Friday's rainout.
The American League East is up for grabs with no one team taking control of the division as of yet. The opportunity is there for the taking and second place Baltimore is trying to become the team to beat with both the arms and bats on the same page which we saw in a 5-2 win over Scott Baker and the Rangers on Thursday for win number five in a row. Wei-Yin Chen improved to 8-3 with both runs plated through six innings. The Birds racked up 12 hits and walked twice with Steve Pearce going 4-5 with two RBI's and a run scored. Baltimore sends Miguel Gonzalez to the bump in game one versus the Red Sox. Gonzalez looks to rebound from three straight poor efforts where he has gone 1-1 with an ERA over six.

The defending American League East and World Champion Red Sox have yet to show signs of the form that made them the best team in the game a season ago. The work on the mound and at the plate simply haven't been consistent and the result is 4th in the division at nine games below .500. The pitching was the issue in Wednesday's 16-9 loss to the visiting Cubs. Brandon Workman gave up six runs in four frames with four of five relievers allowing a combined ten runs. Boston received a pair of RBI's from Mookie Bettis, Mike Napoli and Jonny Gomes which was still not enough. Left hander Jon Lester looks to contain a dangerous Baltimore offense in the series opener Saturday. Lester is 9-7 overall with a 2.92 ERA with the team going 10-7 in his 17 outings.
I think Lester probably wins this but as a gambler I wouldn't bet them at sizeable chalk and would rather bet the better team or walk away...
