The Oakland A’s and the Toronto Blue Jays face off on Sunday in Oakland as they close out their weekend series.
The Oakland A’s continue to roll and they won once again on Saturday knocking off the Blue Jays. Josh Donaldson hit a home run and Craig Gentry, Jed Lowrie, Alberto Jose Callespo, and Stephen Vogt each had two hits as the A’s scored five runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Scott Kazmir allowed three hits and a run while striking out eight over 7.0 innings to get the win and go to 10-3 for the season. The Toronto Blue Jays scored the first run on Saturday but that was the highlight of the game for them as they fell to the A’s. Melky Cabrera had two hits and Jose Reyes, Jose Bautista, Brad Glenn each had hits as the Blue Jays scored one run on five hits. Starting pitcher Mark Buehrle allowed 10 hits and three runs while striking out three over 6.0 innings to take the loss and fall to 10-6 for the year. For Sunday’s game the Blue Jays start Drew Hutchison who is coming off of a win in his last start. For the season Hutchison has allowed 91 hits and 42 earned runs while striking out 89 over 99.1 innings for a 6-6 record and a 3.81 ERA.
Oakland is 8-1 against the AL East, 48-18 as a favorite, and 1-4 in game four of a series. Toronto is 2-6 in their last eight games, 0-5 in their last five road games, and 5-1 in Hutchison’s last six road starts.
The A’s are strong this season but look for Samadzija to disappoint the home crowd here as the Jays win.
