The St. Louis Cardinals and the Miami Marlins face off on Sunday at Busch Stadium for game three and the rubber match of their weekend series.
The St. Louis Cardinals were unable to close it out against the Marlins on Saturday and a what looked to be a win turned into a loss. Allen Craig and Jhonny Peralta each hit home runs and Yadier Molina had two hits as the Cardinals scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Shelby Miller allowed nine hits and three runs while striking out two over 5.1 innings to not factor in the decision as Trevor Rosenthal blew the save and took the loss to fall to 0-4 for the season. For Sunday’s game the Cards look to bounce back as they start Marco Gonzalez who has lost his only Major League decision. For the season Gonzalez has allowed 14 hits and 10 earned runs while striking out five over 9.1 innings for a 0-1 record and a 9.64 ERA.
