The Los Angeles Angels and the Toronto Blue jays face off on Tuesday for game two of their series.
The Los Angeles Angels continued their strong play on Monday as they beat the Blue Jays in game one of their series. Howie Kendrick and Chris Iannetta had three hits each and Albert Pujols had two hits each as the Angels scored five runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Jered Weaver left after two innings so it was Matt Shoemaker who got the win to go to 7-2 for the season and Joe Smith earned his 11th save. For Tuesday’s game the Angels start Tyler Skaggs who has lost his last three decisions. For the season Skaggs has allowed 76 hits and 39 earned runs while striking out 64 over 84.1 innings for a 4-4 record and a 4.16 ERA.

The Toronto Blue Jays West Coast struggles continued on Monday as they lost to the Angels. Juan Francisco had two hits including a home run, Melky Cabrera had two hits, and Jose Reyes had a hit as the Jays scored two runs on six hits. Starting pitcher J.A. Happ allowed seven hits and five runs while striking out two over 4.1 innings to take the loss t fall to 7-5 for the season. For Tuesday’s game the Blue jays start R.A. Dickey who has lost his last four starts. For the season Dickey has allowed 106 hits and 51 earned runs while striking out 94 over 112 innings for a 6-8 record and a 4.10 ERA.
Los Angeles is 5-0 following a win, 22-8 in their last 30 games, and 5-1 in Skaggs last six home starts. Toronto is 1-11 as an underdog, 0-8 as a road underdog, and 1-8 in Dickey’s last nine road starts. Toronto is 1-8 in the last nine meetings of these two.
