The surging Baltimore Orioles and surging Washington Nationals take the field ib game two of their series.
Baltimore has slowly but surely been adding to the win column while Toronto has bwwn in aa slow decline and the result is the top spot in the American League East. The Orioles had won seven of ten heading in to the series opener at Washington which they won 8-2 in eleven innings. Chris Tillman gave up both runs over even frames with Darren O'Day and TJ McFarland tossing two scoreless innings apiece. Baltimore rode the long ball with Chris Davis, Nelson Cruz, Manny Machado and JJ Hardy each going deep. A red hot Bud Norris is scheduled to take the ball in the second game of the series at Washington. Norris has won his last three outings with 0.92 ERA.

Washington has been red hot themselves with victories in seven of ten with Baltimore coming to town Tuesday. Solid hitting and pitching has been leading the way in this stretch but the offense and late inning relief was an issue in the series opener to visiting Baltimore. Stephen Strasburg did his job with a pair of runs plated through seven frames but Craig Stammen took the loss with five runs in the 11th with a pair of homers served up. Even though the late relief struggled the bats had issues as well with Anthony Rendon supplying the scoring with a two run bomb. The Nationals turn to Doug Fister for Tuesday's start against the rival Orioles. Fister has had a strong 2013 thus far with a 7-2 record and 2.93 ERA through eleven outings where the Nats have gone 8-3.
Washington has an edge on the mound but Baltimore is a first place club for a reason and I'd rather take the huge plus odds or walk away...
