The Cincinnati Reds and Chicago Cubs finish off their four game set at Great American Ball Park on Wednesday.
It will be interesting to see how Chicago fares following their recent trades which I can understand in some respects as the team was destined to finish last in the National League Central anyway. The Cubs woes continued as they were swept in Tuesday's DH with the night cap being very painful to take. A 6-5 defeat saw a 5-0 lead vanish with starter Tsuyoshi Wada allowing an unearned run in five frames before five straight relievers each gave up a run. Mike Olt and Chris Coghlan each homered and drove in two with Anthony Rizzo going solo. Chicago sends Dallas Beeler to the hill for his second career start at Cincinnati. Beeler was outstanding in his debut with an unearned run given up over six frames in a 3-0 loss to Washington.

Cincinnati is desperate for a hot streak to get the ship pointed in the right direction and get themselves in the mix in the National League Central. The Reds had everything go their way as they swept the Cubs in Tuesdays doubleheader with game two bring the most exciting. After starter David Holmberg was tagged for all five runs in just 2.2 frames the pen shut the Cubs down and the offense took over. When the smoke had cleared Billy Hamilton and Jay Bruce paced a 12 hit attack with a pair of RBI's. Cincinnati turns to Alfredo Simon for Wednesday's outing versus the Cubs. Simon has been having a career type season with an 11-3 record and 2.78 ERA covering 17 starts where the Reds have gone 14-3.
Cincinnati has fared well in this match up so I feel like riding them once again is the way to go with one of their best on the hill...
