The Boston Red Sox and the Chicago White Sox face off on Thursday at Fenway park in game four of their series.
The Boston Red Sox looked to be dead in the water on Wednesday but they mounted a comeback and won in the bottom of the ninth inning, David Ortiz, Mookie Betts and Jhonny Gomes had two hits each as the Red Sox scored five runs on nine hits. Starting pitcher Rubby De la Rosa allowed six hits and three runs while striking out three over 5.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Koji Uehara got the win to go to 5-2 for the season. For Thursday’s game the Red Sox start Jon Lester who has won five of his last six decisions. For the season Lester has allowed 111 hits and 37 earned runs while striking out 122 over 122 innings for a 9-7 record and a 2.73 ERA.

The Chicago White Sox looked like winners on Wednesday but they let it get away as they took a devastating loss. Jose Abreu and Conor Gillaspie each had two hits including a home run and Adam Dunn added a hit as the White Sox scored four runs on 10 hits. Starting pitcher Chris Sale allowed four hits and a run while striking out six over 7.2 innings to not get a decision as Javy Guerra blew the save and took the loss. For Thursday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has won his last two decisions. For the season Quintana has allowed 107 hits and 40 earned run while striking out 100 over 112.1 innings for a 5-7 record and a 3.20 ERA.
Boston is 7-13 against the AL Central, 1-4 in their last five home games, and 5-0 in Lester’s last five starts. Chicago is 5-1 in their last six road games, Chicago is 2-8 o the road against a team with a losing record, and 2-5 in Quintana’s last seven starts. Chicago is 2-6 in their last eight games in Boston.
Lester is a big favorite here and while I can’t play Boston at this price they are my pick here.
