The Seattle Mariners look to go on a long winning streak beginning with the Minnesota Twins on Thursday.
I think at this point in the season the goal for Minnesota is to reach .500 which I think is a stretch with their hitting and pitching all over the map at times which isn't conducive to winning streaks. The Twins certainly put everything together in Wednesday's 8-1 rout at Seattle with Kyle Gibson picking up the win with six scoreless frames. The offense scored eight times by the 4th with Kendrys Morales driving in three while Chris Colabello knocking in two more. Rookie Yohan Pino makes just his 5th start of his career and first versus Seattle on Thursday. Pino is coming off his best outing where he gave up one run over six frames of a 2-1 loss to the Yankees.

The Mariners are improved over season's past but their issue is they reside in the American League West with the Athletics and Angels where 'improved' isn't good enough. Starter Roenis Elias wasn't even close to being competitive Wednesday as he was hammered for seven runs on seven hits and a trio of bases on balls through only 3.1 innings of work. That was game over with the Mariners offense never generating much of anything. The M's did have plenty of baserunners on 12 hits and a free pass but only received an RBI hit from Robinson Cano. The Mariners send reliever Tom Wilhelmsen to the mound for his first career start. Wilhelmsen has tossed 47 innings in relief where he has gone 1-1 with a 2.49 ERA.
The issue here is Wilhelmsen is nothing but a reliever so stamina is a definite issue and I have no clue how long he'll last so no bet for me...
