The Cleveland Indians look for back to back road victories over the AL Central leading Detroit Tigers in game one of their DH.
Heading in to the All Star break Cleveland had been playing well with both their arms and bats on the same page. The Indians continued to play well with Friday's 9-3 decision over the Tigers for their 7th win in eleven contests. Trevor Bauer gave up all three runs on six hits over six frames to pick up the win. The Tribe bats didn't waste the effort with 14 hits and four BB with Jason Kipnis slugging a pair of homers and driving in four while Asdubal Cabrera went solo. Nick Swisher knocked in three more as Cleveland erased a 3-0 hole. The Indians send Corey Kluber to the hill looking to pitch his team to another win over the Tigers. Kluber is coming in off of a win over the White Sox despite giving up four runs in six frames.

The Tigers were red hot heading in to the break with wins in five six to take control of the American League Central. During this stretch the work on the mound and at the plate have both been strong but it wasn't Friday. The Tigers appeared to be headed for a big series opening win before the Tribe scored seven times in the 7th to win going away. Anibal Sanchez took the loss with four runs scored through six innings before Al Alburquerque and Chad Smith gave up two runs each. The Tigers did hit the ball with eleven hits but received RBI's from Ian Kinsler and Torii Hunter. The Tigers give the ball to rookie right hander Drew VerHagen who makes his major league debut versus the rival Indians. VerHagen was 6-7 with a 3.67 ERA at Triple A Toledo.
I don't know what VerHagen is going to do so I'll just go with what I know. Kluber is pretty good and the Indians need game one...
