The Minnesota Twins and the Cleveland Indians face off on Tuesday for game two of their series.
The Minnesota Twins have some holes to fill if they want to be competitive on a nightly basis but they were good enough to beat the Indians on Monday. Josh Willingham had two hits including a home run, Kurt Suzuki had three hits, and Kendrys Morales and Trevor Plouffe each had hits as the Twins scored four rins on nine hits. Starting pitcher Kris Jonson allowed five hits and two runs while striking out four over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Casey Fein lew the save but got the win and Glenn Perkins picked up his 23rd save. For Tuesday’s game the Twins start Yohan Pino who makes his sixth start of the season. For The year Pino has allowed 29 hits and 13 earned runs while striking out 19 over 26.2 innings for a 1-2 record and a 4.39 ERA.

The Cleveland Indians clawed their way back into Monday’s game but they couldn’t get the win as they fell to the Twins. Yan Gomes, Carlos Santana, and Lonnie Chisenhall each had hits as the Indians scored three runs on eight hits. Starting pitcher T.J. House allowed six hits and three runs while striking out two over 5.0 innings to not get a decision as Bryan Shaw took the loss. For Tuesday’s game the Indians start Danny Salazar who makes his first start since May. For the season Salazar has allowed 49 hits and 25 earned runs while striking out 47 over 40.2 innings for a 1-4 record and a 5.53 ERA.
Minnesota is 5-1 against a team with a winning record, 10-19 as an underdog, and 1-4 in their last five home games. Cleveland is 5-2 in their last seven road games, 6-1 in game two of a series, and 0-5 in Salazar’s last five road starts. Cleveland is 10-4 in the last 14 meetings of these two.
The Twins got the best of it on Monday but look for the Indians to get revenge here.
