The Chicago White Sox search for back to back victorie over the Minnesota Twins at Target Field.
At this point in the season the goal for the White Sox is to reach .500 and then finish the season strong and perhaps steal a Wild Card. The odds might be against them but Chicago took a step in the right direction with a 5-2 win in the series opener. Hector Noesi was solid over 7.2 frames with a two run homer spoiling a shutout. The offense posted eleven hits with Adam Eaton going 3-5 with a pair of RBI's and a run scored. The White Sox give Friday's starting assignment to lefty John Danks. Danks hasn't thrown the ball as poorly as his 9-11 record says but he did last time out in a 11-7 loss to Houston where he gave up seven runs in 4.1 innings.

I think the goal for Minnesota is the exact same as the rival White Sox; reach .500 and take from there only their job is much tougher as they fell to nine games below the breakeven point with Thursday's defeat. Starter Phil Hughes left in the 4th when hit in the shin with a line drive but not before he gave up two runs in three innings to take the loss. Samuel Deduno allowed three more runs over seven frames innings to put the game out of reach with the offense producing few baserunners. The Twins mustered just three hits with a two run homer in the 8th from Daniel Santana being the lone source of scoring. Minnesota tasks Kevin Correia with evening the series with the White Sox on Friday night. Correia has thrown the ball well over his last ten outings with quality starts in seven of his last ten appearances.
Danks doesn't usually throw well against Minnesota but I believe he is a decent enough pitcher to give the White Sox a chance at plus money...
