The surging Toronto Blue Jays battle the surging New York Yankees in the Big Apple on Friday.
After dropping out of the top spot in the American League East the Blue Jays have struggled to right the ship and the result was dropping to third. The Jays have shown signs of rebounding with wins in five of six following Thursday's an 8-0 rout of Boston. Marcus Stroman dominated on the mound with a one hit shutout over seven frames while the bats built a 5-0 lead after three innings. Juan Francisco paced the scoring with a 3-4 effort with a homer and four RBI's with Melky Cabrera knocking in two more. Veteran left hander Mark Buehrle opens the series on the mound versus the Yankees. Buehrle is 10-6 with a 2.86 ERA but has not tasted victory since June 1st.

The Yankees have also spent some time atop the American League East before dropping in the standings. However the Bronx Bombers have been playing well over the last few weeks with wins in six of eight heading in to the series finale' with Texas on Wednesday. The Yanks continued to find the win column with a 4-2 decision with Brandon McCarthy improving to 2-0 in pinstripes. McCarthy gave up a single run on four hits and a pair of BB through six frames. The bats totaled only six hits and a trio of walks but the hits were timely with four players recording RBI's and four scoring. The Yankees hand the ball to Hiroki Kuroda who has righted the ship from some early struggles. Kuroda has logged quality outings in seven of ten and has lowered his ERA to 3.88 overall.
Even though both teams are winning I think the Blue Jays are playing better but the Yankees seem to play Toronto tough in New York...
