The Chicago Cubs begin a west coast road swing on Friday with a stop to face the Los Angeles Dodgers.
The Cubs have been eliminated from the postseason conversation with a need for pitching and hitting causing their woes. The offense stalled but the pitching didn't need much help in a 3-1 victory over Colorado on Thursday as the Cubbies took three of four in the series. Starter Jake Arrieta continued his great pitching with the lone run scored on three hits over seven frames while recording seven strikeouts. A three run 6th carried the day with Starlin Castro, Justin Ruggiano and Luis Valbuena knocking in runs. Rookie right hander Kyle Hendricks takes the hill for his 4th start while he sees the Dodgers for the first time. Hendricks was spectacular in a 1-0 loss to St Louis last time out with the lone run plated on a solo jack in 6.1 frames.

The Dodgers are hot and that isn't good news for San Francisco who is trying to hang tough and turn the tide in the National League West. Right now Los Angeles is getting quality performance in most areas which makes them extremely difficult to deal with. All the Dodgers received Thursday was yet another great performance on the mound from Clayton Kershaw in a 2-1 victory over visiting Atlanta. Kershaw gave up a 9th inning run in a complete game effort that saw him strikeout nine to up his record to 13-2. Yasiel Puig paced the attack with homerun number 13 while Adrian Gonzalez went 2-3 with an RBI. Dan Haren looks to right the ship when he toes the rubber in the series opener versus the Cubs. Haren has been struggling with 20 runs plated on 28 hits over 19 innings covering four starts overall.
First we have no clue what Hendricks is going to do and secondly the Dodgers are better then the Cubs. I just don't like Haren as a huge fave but I don't have the greatest feel for this...
