The Chicago White Sox and the Minnesota Twins close out their series as they meet on Sunday in Chicago.
The Chicago White Sox fell behind early on Saturday and while they were able to bounce back they were unable to hold onto the lead as they fell to the Twins. Adam Eaton had four hits. Alexei Ramirez had two hits including a home run, and Gordon Beckham and Aljandro De Aza each had two hits as the White Sox scored six runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Scot Carroll allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out four over 7.0 innings to not factor in the decision as Ronald Belisario took the loss to fall to 4-8 for the season. For Sunday’s game the White Sox start Jose Quintana who has won his last three decisions. For the season Quintana has allowed 128 hits and 56 earned runs while striking out 120 over 137.1 innings for a 6-7 record and a 3.15 ERA.
USA TODAY Sports
The Minnesota Twins finished strong on Saturday to get the win against the White Sox. Trevor Plouffe had four hits, Daniel Santana had two hits including a home run, and Kennys Vargas and Oswaldo Arcia each had two hits as the Twins scored eight runs on 12 hits. Starting pitcher Yohan Pino allowed seven hits and four runs while striking out five over 6.1 innings to not get a decision as Brian Duensing blew the save, Ryan Pressly got the win, and Glen Perkins earned his 27th save. For Sunday’s game the Twins start Kyle Gibson who has won two of his last three starts. For the season Quintana has allowed 109 hits and 50 earned runs while striking out 61 over 114.1 innings for a 9-8 record and a 3.94 ERA.
Chicago is 6-3 in their last nine games, 3-9 in their last 12 Sunday games, and 2-5 in Quintana’s last seven home starts. Minnesota is 8-15 in their last 23 home games, 3-6 in their last nine games, and 5-1 in Gibson’s last six starts against the AL Central. Minnesota is 3-5 in their last eight games in Chicago.
The White Sox are playing better baseball and I like for them to take this game.
